| Abstract: | The dual objectives of the study were to examine empirically the characteristics of doctoral dissertations and the extent to which strategic management (business policy), exhibits fragmentation. A statistical profile of doctoral dissertations is provided. Also, the fragmentation is examined by exploring the extent of paradigm coherence in the field. The existence of a coherent paradigm would reflect consensus rather than fragmentation. Content, disciplinary base and methodological orientation of the dissertations are surveyed. Finally, the functional area linkages of them were also assessed. |
