| Abstract: | Auspex Systems Inc. has a growing reputation in the middle of the market for superservers that operate as foundations for workstation networks. Some Sun users, faced with I/0 bottlenecks and sluggish network performance, are turning to Auspex for relief. Its product, Network Server 5000 is described. Key benefits for information services departments are suggested, and a diagram showing how to serve multiple Ethernets is presented. A comparison of Sun file servers and the new Auspex product was made, and it is pointed out that the NS 5000 superserver is designed to be a file server star, able to support 100 workstations. |
