| Abstract: | This paper examines the differences between organizational legitimacy and organizational reputation. It is suggested that legitimacy highlights the social acceptance and loyalty to social norms and expectations while reputation accentuates comparisons among organizations. Two antecedents of the financial, regulatory and public dimensions of legitimacy and reputation in a population of US commercial banks are examined. |
