Abstract:In modern economies, the sector of knowledge-intensive business services (KIBS) has a central role. This paper aims to widen the existing understanding about the concept of knowledge-intensity (henceforth as: kwn-int.) towards its operational application and managerial usefulness. Methodologically, there are two steps taken: 1. a conceptual study based on intellectual capital (IC) literature and literature on knw-int. firms is performed, 2. an interview study (n=8) is carried out to empirically examine the role of knowledge assets in selected KIBS organisations. It is demonstrated that there are different types of 'knw-int. profiles' among KIBS companies. Knowledge assets can be used as an analytical framework to identify the sources of value creation.
