Abstract:To provide the basis for an innovative discourse about the nature of markets, this study presents modelling techniques which integrate knowledge-based and statistical methods. The models built on qualitative information elicited from domain experts yield numerical relationships which are not less robust than results obtained on suitable data by means of conventional statistical analyses. This approach offers that models contain much more information directly useful to domain experts. The basis for wider discourse in the analysis of sources of changing market-share patterns is provided by the context-dependency models.
