Abstract:Mergers have had a deleterious effect on total corporate support. Many companies are trimming or even eliminating their giving budgets. Cases and results of studies are described. The figures, however, point to the fact, that corporate giving isn't really the lifeblood of non-profit organizations; it is proved, that individuals and other foundations are. It is shown, that a corporation's ambition of charity can be used to mobilize against an unfriendly bidder. But it is better for a community to accept direct reductions in contributions than risk loosing jobs.
