Abstract:Last year, the Spanish Government introduced a set of radical labour market reforms, which had profound implications for the structure and content of collective bargaining. In brief, the reforms transferred to the sphere of bargaining a number of matters which were previously subject to statutory minima, and laid down rules about which subjects could be covered at the various levels of bargaining. Not least, the reforms hastened the demise of the labour ordinances, which had played a major role in setting conditions of employment.
