Abstract:In the course of financial liberalization, China's banking industry has made greater progress in its transformation. It finds expression in transformation proceeding smoothly and much progress in the internationalization of banking industry. The overseas branches set up by the Chinese banks continue to increase and the scale of assets enlarges continuously. By the end of 1995, there were altogether 545 overseas branches set up by Chinese banks. Among them, 521 belong to The Bank of China whose overseas assets exceeding US$15 billion, 7 belong to China construction Bank, 6 to The Industrial and commercial Bank of China and Communications Bank, 5 to Agricultural Bank.
