Abstract: | The regional economic integration of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao is facing both chances and challenges. For the former, opening to the outside world and integration with the world economy are China's basic long-term national policy. For the latter, the economic cooperation between them is concentrated on labor-intensive processing industry based on the low cost of land and labor in Guangdong. To promote the regional economic integration, we should insist on the reform with market as guidance and enlarge the extent of Guangdong's opening up to Hong Kong and Macao. Besides, we should lay the industrial foundation in the New Period with new and high technology and develop diversified coordination mechanisms in order to form a coordination base in the New Period. |
