Abstract:The growth multiples of major indicators of national economy of Guangzhou and Shenzhen cities in 1990-1996 are as follows: In terms of GDP growth, total investment of the whole society in fixed assets, total export volume of foreign trade and actually used foreign investment, Guangzhou was 4.35, 7.23, 6.35 and 9.73 times while Shenzhen 6.56, 5.65, 7.08 and 4.67 times respectively. The comparison of major indicators between the two cities show the following: In terms of rate of GDP contribution to budgetary local finance, proportions of GDP, foreign trade export and import to total industrial and agricultural value, Guangzhou was 5.8%, 66%, 33.3% and 92.4% while Shenzhen 13.9%, 88%, 157.2% and 328.4% respectively.
