| Abstract: | The European Commission has proposed a Directive, based on the social policy Agreement, implementing the social partners' recent agreement on parental leave. The authors examine the Directive (the first of its type), the process which led to it, and the implications for Community social policy. If adopted, the Directive will make the terms of the agreement obligatory in the 14 member states which are parties to the social policy Agreement annexed to the Maastricht Treaty on European Union. |
