Abstract:In Japan there used to be monopoly provision of international telecommunications services by KDD but in 1989, two new common carriers, ITJ and IDC entered into this market and began operation in the field of telephone as well as leased circuits. The industrial structure has become competitive and price competition is now enhancing in many markets. According to the spirit of the Telecommunication Business Law in 1985, it was taken for granted that there should be competition in international telecommunication services as well as domestic services.
