| Abstract: | The term "concurrent engineering" is now ubiquitous in connection with the development of new products. The phrase "systems engineering" is also widespread in this connection. Giving many of the same connotations of good engineering and succesful end products, the two phrases might mask identical objectives and approaches. This article inquires into the simulations and differences between the two styles of new product introduction process. Both are severely tainted by the label engineering, which can discourage the non-engineers indispensable to the successful introduction of products. |
