Abstract: | The article examines how marketing thought and practice from 1900 to 1929 were affected by the ideas and language of engineering. Content analysis data revealed a significant use of engineering metaphors in both marketing texts and advertisements of the period, suggesting a strong connection btw. the prevalent societal valuation of engineering activities and the evolution of marketing activities. |
