Abstract: | The debate between the cohesion and structural equivalency models in medical innovation is studied with the question, whether physicians resolve the uncertainty of adopting a new drug through conversions with colleagues or through their perception of the action proper for an occupant of their position in the social structure of colleagues. Alternative models defined, compared, and tested. Contagion is found not to be dominant factor, but where there is contagion, there is evidence of personal preferences at work. |
