| Abstract: | In an increasingly competitive environment, American business is justifiably concerned about the soaring cost of health care benefits. It is a cost over which management seems to have little or no control. Many companies are no longer willing to accept increases of this magnitude passively. They are facing the fact that they have to manage health care costs the way they manage any other business expense: by finding cost-effective alternatives. Investigated and implemented are several cost-containment procedures and treatment alternatives for individuals obtaining care under its group medical plans. |
