Abstract: | In both western and eastern Germany, personal computers (PCs) and the Internet are used intensively by all strata of the population, but significant differences remain. Affluent households are far more likely to be equipped with a PC than the average; the same is broadly true of households with children, an exception being lone parenthouseholds. Computers are used for leisure purposes particularly frequently by young people, and more by men than women. |
