Abstract:The subjects of the paper are economic forecasting and international trade. The author of the paper forecasts international economic trends for 2002-2003 and analyses the effect of the September 11, 2002 terrorist attacks on the world's economy. The article pays an attention to the inflationary effects of the crisis on western industrial economies and considers the discussion of how the U.S. economic recovery helped in the recuperation of the German economy. The author states that the state of the world economy is a cause of great concern, having developed in a way that seemed virtually impossible at the start of 2001. Economic growth, previously strong, virtually came to a standstill in the course of last year.
