Abstract:The subjects of the paper are economic conditions in Germany. The paper forecasts the economic trends in Germany for 2002-2003 and considers the effect of the September 11, 2002 terrorist attacks on the economy. The paper also pays attention to the inflationary effects of the crisis in animal farming and oil prices and provides the discussion of how the U.S. economic recovery helped the German economy to recuperate. The author of the article states that until recently there was still hope that the weakening of economic activity in Germany would not lead to recession. Yet ultimately the burdens dragging the economy down, not least those in the wake of the terrorist attacks of 11 September, provided to strong: it is virtually certain that German output declined perceptibility during the second half of the 2002.
