Abstract:The author states that at least since the Third Report by Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change it has become generally accepted that global warming is mainly due to human activities - especially the emission of greenhouse gases from energy consumption. The article also covers the following subjects: Survey of the worldwide development; Factors influencing the changes in CO2 emissions; the position of the EU-15 group; Reduction in CO2 emissions in Germany slows down. In conclusion the author states that the development to date in worldwide CO2 emissions is in crass contrast to the requirements of climate protection. The article also provides a great number of tables and figures on this subject.
