Abstract:This study aims at discussing the importance of organizations taking notice to their corporate language policies as a strategy for promoting their workforce's diversity (hereafter as: dvty). An exploratory study of the web sites of companies recognized for their dvty. efforts is performed to emphasize their communication strategy, especially the used terminology in refering to non-whites. The companies examined were: Verizon Comm., Consolidated Edison Co. of NY., The Coca-Cola Co., Health Care Service Corp., HBO, and AT&T Inc. It is found that the language used in corporate communications to refer to non-whites is variable even among companies highly recognized for their dvty. efforts.
