| Abstract: | There has been a long-standing controversy in both the literature on industrial economics and that on business administration concerning the relative imporatance of firm and industry effects as an explanation of firm performance. Studies so far have focussed on US-American firms only. Applying improved statistical methods, the present article determines the effects by using a data set with German firms. |
