| Abstract: | The general economic and social situation of the Netherlands is discussed. Statistics are presented about the household structure. A table is showing population growth and average number of persons per dwelling. Figures highlight marked acceleration of the trend towards two- and three-member units. Multi-person households are analyzed by size. Factors influencing the development of housing stock are examined. Data are presented about dwellings by size. Household purchasing and living standards are discussed. The typical Dutch household spending is outlined. The results of a survey into the social status, spending power and general satisfaction of one- and two-income households are analyzed. |
