| Abstract: | Data on the development of the West German population show a pronounced slowing-down of growth, consequently consumption patterns have been slowing in the middle and late 1980s. Data on main demographic changes from 1960 to 1987 are presented. Data on households and work patterns are shown in tables. Shopping habits are surveyed through the changes in retail sales by types of organization from 1980 to 1988. Consumer spending by category from 1980 to 1987 has been surveyed and shown in a table. Finally, considerations no personal finance are given including incomes, savings and credit. |
