| Abstract: | After a general introduction on the country's present political and economic situation, the population of Portugal is examined in some detail. Facts and figures on population structure, demographic shifts, main demographic sectors and regional trends are presented. It is followed by a survey of households and work patterns with tabulated data. Shopping habits and use of leisure time by the people are analysed. Personal finance, including wages, taxes, incomes, savings and credit is discussed, illustrated by tabulated data. Finally, consumer spending in the country is analysed. |
