Abstract:Industrial dynamics as one of the two main modern approaches in the framework of industrial economics is characterized. Industrial dynamics is a research program which has a rather long tradition. It pretends today to offer a view which differs drastically from that of "industrial organization", if this term is used in the sense as it appears in the Anglo-Saxon literature. The program itself has been already applied in several fields. Its three original features are: a focus on manufacturing goods rather than their exchange; a specific interest in dynamic economic processes; the importance attached to the heterogeneity and complexity of production systems.
