| Abstract: | The historical roots of a new subject, namely the international industrial economics are briefly reviewed. An important dilemma is formulated: is it necessary to build up a new theoretical field of study or is it possible to use extensively the previous results of industrial economics and some other related subjects? Five main problem areas of the new discipline are mentioned: international market structure; international competitiveness; international co-operation; the single European market; public policy concerning the international industrial relationships. |
