Abstract:The problem of what are the conditions of being a good supplier is discussed. It is shown that suppliers achieve excellence when they work with excellent customers. Customer/supplier relationship areas are defined and discussed. The outline and results of Motorola's supplier survey are presented and analyzed. The five-stage model of customer/supplier partnership development is explained, including the definition of supply universe, competitive benchmarking, performance tracking, supplier development and becoming a world-class customer.
