| Abstract: | It is surprising to find an evident imbalance in much of the professional political and economic literature on relations between the European Union (EU) and the Central and East European countries (CEECs). On the one hand, there are rapidly rising numbers of publications on specific issues not necessarily of strategic importance, ranging from the impact of trade measurers and special areas of cooperation to an overall assessment of the Association Agreements. On the other hand, there is little evidence of various strategic approaches being made to the future of the European pattern of security, political, economic, and social cooperation. |
