Abstract: | This paper examines how partners in an interorganizational (henceforth as: i-o.) relationship (here as: r-ship.) can repair violated trust, and if that is impossible, how they can preserve the collaborative r-ship. It is considered under which circumstances exit from the r-ship. is the only viable option. It is proposed that the effectiveness of legalistic and non-legalistic measures in response to a trust violation is a function of the hierarchical level (here as: h-level) at which the violation occurred etc. Based on these factors, it is explored how the way in which violation of trust is dealt with at one h-level might affect trust at the other level. The theoretical model uncovers that prior findings on trust repair in interpersonal context may not hold in the i-o. context. |
