Abstract:In multi-stakeholder networks (henceforth as: m-s-nets), information concerning a problem is collected from different sources, learning takes place, conflicts btw. participants are addressed and cooperation is looked for. Corporations are key actors in many networks due to the problems addressed being frequently related to business activities. This article aims to conceptualize m-s-nets by proposing a problem-centred stakeholder definition. Based on an analysis of several case studies, a life cycle model is deduced, distinguishing seven phases: initiation, acquaintance, first and second agreement, implementation, consolidation and institutionalisation.
