Abstract:If the word and concept of networks have become fashionable, it is not a sign of whim and fancy but the recognition of the fact of limited resources and limitless problems. The concept of connection within a social exchange network is defined. The distribution of power in networks is examined. Networks in the firms' competitive environment are identified. Personal and infrastructural networks are described and analyzed. A general typology of networks is developed. Several networks which exist in the telecommunications industry are listed (network of technological development, network of technological control, network of the evaluation of competitors, network of new market opportunities etc.).
