Abstract: | Despite 1991 being a year of recession in the US, French Societe Generale and Credit Lyonnais, Canadian ScotiaBank and CIBC, Union Bank of Switzerland and German Deutsche Bank were highly successful. There are still a lot of good deals for banks with good ratings and strong capital ratios. The only two US money-centre banks with high ratings- JP Morgan, and Bankers Trust hardly lend to corporates any more. |
