| Abstract: | Standardized Generalized Markup Language (SGML) is the international standard for the management of text. SGML provides a method for identifying information content separate from style or type of media. SGML provides easy access to information through an open framework separate from proprietary formats or platforms. The number of SGML products and vendors has grown dramatically which has caused lower prices making it an even more viable alternative. SGML has been credited with the growth in electronic publishing on both CD-ROM and the Internet. |
