Abstract:Americans are spending a lot less in the 1990s than they did earlier, and reaching the customers and persuading them to buy is becoming more and more difficult. Through several examples this article gives the reader some ideas about how to meet the challenge. Investment in new products, new ways of advertising, teaching retailers how to sell, multimedia campaigns, relationship marketing, are some of the issues discussed.
