| Abstract: | Cooperation between competing firms is becoming an important strategic option for small and medium-sized companies, as competition across national borders intensifies. This study investigates the relationship between personal ties and reciprocity in the governance of strategic alliances between competing firms, and shows how this improves company performance. There is a need for more refined examination of strategic alliances and behaviors in the firms involved in cooperative arrangements. |
