| Abstract: | The new ANC-led government has maintained the status quo in South Africa's well-developed domestic bond market. While there has been some uncertainty about the reconstruction and development programme's demands on domestic borrowing, which has driven up bond yields, the jury is out until the March 1995 budget. The caretaker budget of 1994-95 estimated borrowing would be in excess R29.6 billion in the financial year (6.5 per cent of GDP). |
