| Abstract: | This article will discuss the Southern African Customs Union, its theoretical basis, current status and the actual and potential efforts to transform it into a more meaningful instrument for cross-border trade; financial and monetary cooperation; and overall socio-economic change. The article therefore focuses on a number of economic themes, with special emphasis on the removal of bottlenecks to the Southern African Customs Union integration scheme. |
