Abstract:The article states: " Anglo American's decision to list on the London Stock Exchange could be the start of a new trend among South African companies". The move by South African Breweries and Anglo American has major repercussions for South African business. Analysts say that Anglo could have continued to fund itself in SA with foreign capital. The argument is that a foreign listing improves access to capital and that it gives the company a wider profile. South African companies, most notably gold producers, also hope that their investnment ratings will edge closer to those of their foreign-based counterparts.
