Abstract:In 1998, Sasol, the South African-based oil and gas company, launched a KM program, calling it the "KM Journey", to address a unique set of problems, incl. the need to merge cultures after acquisitions in the U.S. and Europe, and a failure to fully utilize creativity in the company. Here, the author describes how the KM team sought buy-in at all levels of the business, and how they measure effectiveness with a seven-level "Pyramid of Excellence".
