Abstract:Partly because of gender discrimination, women are not well represented in managerial positions and international assignments. Lack of fair and just treatment of women in selection, assignment and promotion processes has forced some female professionals to initiate their own expatriation. Although women repatriate at the same rate as men, their reasons differ. Women repatriate mostly because of family reasons instead of career reasons, while it's the opposite for men. Women also gain a smaller financial return on their investment, which implies that they get treated in an unfair way at home.
