Abstract:Two basic components of gainsharing plans are stated: employee involvement/ communication/goal setting system and financial bonus. Financial disclosure as the most demonstrative action in a plan is emphasized. The requirements of a true gainsharing are found in management's commitment to an organization's philosophy for qualitative change,in the flow of information and decisions from the bottom up,and in the employee's responsibility of helping to manage the company. The case of the firm Peabody Barnes is described.
