Abstract:The signs of the time are pointing in the direction of customer orientation, particularly in the case of production companies. However, the experience acquired by numerous companies shows that customer orientation, if at all, is restricted to selling and marketing. In an endeavour to improve this initial situation, the in-company navigation is aiming for the initialisation and control of a continuous orientation process for customers. This can be achieved with interlinked, decentralised control systems. An organisation and information concept has been developed at the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Techniques and Automation (IPA) in Stuttgart to implement the control system strategy in the company.
