| Abstract: | This article presents the decision-support system KOSIMEUS, a combination of process models simulated with a flowsheeting programme and a multi-criteria decision-support system. The methodological preconditions for multi-criteria decision-support system are analyzed with special regard to environmental assessment, clarified with an example from the steel industry. A key management attraction is that KOSIMEUS uses existing manufacturing industry software and datasets and evaluates them according to certain criteria. This allows a relatively inexpensive approach to complex decision-making. This approach is particularly attractive for complex multi-plant investment planning and projections of environmental impacts in manufacturing innovation. |
