| Abstract: | This paper analyzes, in detail, the state of supply and demand in China's steel product market, its operational environment and the international steel product market in 1997 and makes forecast in regard to the main indicators reflecting the supply and demand in China's steel product market in 1998. It points out the following: The general trend of steel product market in 1998 will present rising slightly amid stability. Among the steel products, the prices of the products under the category of strip tend to stop falling gradually. It is estimated that their prices will rise again with an increase range of over 8%. The prices of wire rod and concrete steel for building will remain basically stable. The prices of steel products for railway and large and medium-type products will possibly fall by 3% to 5% or so. |
