Abstract:The benefits of benchmarking in the service industries are manifolded. Their main importance lies in the strategic planning cycle. The data provided by benchmarking can give senior management valuable information for development of corporate objectives and tactical plans. It can also be used as a comparative measurement of internal performance. Benchmarking adds a new dimension to strategic planning by giving information of how your competitor formulates and positions its product based on its strategy for the future.
