| Abstract: | Two broad levels of analysis are reflected: the study of disaggregate consumer behavior (separability, additivity and preference restrictions; functional forms specification; estimation issues); the dynamic consumer behavior analysis using intertemporal or life-cycle models (theoretical foundations and empirical representations of life-cycle models; preference restrictions and estimation intertemporally separable models; aggregation, sensitivity and the evaluation of empirical evidence). Neither a catalogue of empirical results is provided, nor all the theories are analyzed, rather the interplay between theoretical and empirical considerations are highlighted. |
