Abstract: | Managers need to exercise effective alignment skill for aligning their organizations to the external environment. Unfortunately, the effectiveness of alignment skill can be undermined by managerial problems in understanding environmental change, resulting in ineffective alignment. To overcome these problems, firms need to develop mechanisms for modifying, influencing, and controlling managers' alignment skills. These mechanisms are labeled modulators, and their function is to contribute to an effective alignment of the firm, as well as modifying and influencing managers' alignment skills. |
