Abstract:This article aims at expanding the understanding of what it is to be an agent within an organization. Analyzed are the views of both Archer and Giddens (here as: A. and G.) on the constitution (as: cnst.) of the agent which are used to differentially illuminate an empirical case. It is argued that a team of 10 agents are crucial in taking forward a merger btw. twop pharmaceutical companies. Compared are the insights into how agents are constituted arising from the conceptual frames offered by A. and G. It is concluded that the cnst. of the organizational agent encompasses both agential (as: agntl.) positioning and agntl. powers.
