| Abstract: | This paper uses material from the articles of Basel, Bern and Zuerich and it demonstrates the difference between monopolies in the age of mercantilism and free trade. Monopolies were hated and hindered in the commercial towns. This is shown through the example of Tillier & Co.,which was a commercial house in the 18th century, and whose attempt failed because of the resistance of the commercial towns. |
